What are the main changes of the new generation of EU financing instruments for development cooperation and how will they impact the implementation of development activities by cities and regions? On 11 October 2012 in Brussels, these questions will be at the core of a panel debate with representatives of the European Parliament, the European Commission, the Council of Local Communities of the West African Economic and Monetary Union and the Committee of the Regions. Registrations for the workshop "EU support for decentralised development cooperation post-2013", which will be held in the context of the OPEN DAYS, are open on http://opendays.eu .
While local and regional authorities have in recent years asserted their role as actors in development cooperation, information about their activities is still dispersed and difficult to access. In order to address this gap and to promote exchanges and further relations between them, the European Commission and the Committee of the Regions created the online European Portal of Decentralised Cooperation. It combines an Atlas including specific search functions with a Library, a Forum and a Bourse/ Project Stock Exchange.
