In its resolution on the future approach to ending poverty and giving the world a sustainable future, the Committee of the Regions underlined the need to implement a global partnership for development which involves all parties. It is subnational authorities that provide the public with many of the services that are essential to meeting the millennium goals and consequently, these have a major impact on the future framework's results. With the results from the 67th UN General Assembly and the contributions from the EU institutions, this panel discussion will focus on the participation of local and regional authorities in the post-2015 process, with their challenges and opportunities. Speakers will include Mercedes Bresso, First Vice-President of the CoR, Hans Janssen, Member of the CoR, Aisa Kirabo Kacyira, Deputy Executive Director, UN-Habitat, Moraig Henderson, Deputy Executive Director, UNDP Brussels Office, and a representative of the European Commission.
