International cooperation for improving the capacity to deal with waste management in the Mediterranean

The workshop on International cooperation for improving the capacity to deal with waste management in the Mediterranean will be held in the framework of the 14th European Week of Regions and Cities on 13 October 2016 from 11.15 to 13.00 in the European Committee of the regions in Brussels. The workshop will be chaired by Mr Van den Brande, CoR Member. Representatives of the Association of cities and regions for recycling (ACR+), UNEP, Suez and the Vice-Mayor of the City of Antwerp are on the agenda.

Waste management is one of the most important typical services delivered by local authorities. Local authorities in Libya and other Mediterranean countries face serious challenges to assure service delivery to the local population. Decentralised cooperation can provide the framework for a fruitful exchange of experience and best practices in the field and help to improve their capacity and support a sustainable development at local level.

the code of the workshop is: 13A129

Speakers: Bonnet, Francoise
Heylen, Philip
Oddo, Benedetta
